Housing costs in Lethbridge sit among the lower end for an Alberta city of its size — genuinely lower than Calgary, and often lower than Red Deer too. For a family doing the arithmetic on where a given salary stretches furthest, that gap is worth putting into the spreadsheet rather than treating housing cost as roughly the same everywhere outside Calgary and Edmonton.

Evening: a smaller city’s actual rhythm

By evening, Lethbridge reads like what it is — a compact, walkable-in-parts prairie city built around agriculture and a university, running at a small-town pace despite a population in the low six figures for the surrounding region. It won’t suit someone who needs a big-city job market or a wide range of specialist employers.
